AI Overview Tracker
SeenMeter's AI Overview tracker starts with a free check: see whether Google's AI Overviews name your brand, cite your pages, or skip you. From there, it works as a rank tracker for AI Overviews: your tracked prompts re-run daily on flat plans from $49, recording whether you're named, your rank in the answer, and the sources cited.

Why track your brand in AI Overviews
Why AI Overview tracking matters
Where AI Overviews sit, what they decide, and what Search Console can't tell you.
AI Overviews are the AI-written summaries Google adds to ordinary search results, usually above the organic listings you worked to earn. Google says they're made possible by a Gemini model customized for Search, which is why SeenMeter covers them inside its Gemini engine instead of as a separate one. For a buying question, the Overview can settle the shortlist before anyone scrolls: a few brands named in the text, a handful of source links beside it. They only appear when Google's systems judge them additive to classic Search, so many searches never show one. When one does show up for your category, it either includes you or answers without you.
Showing up in an AI Overview isn't one thing. Your brand can be Named in the answer text, Cited only as a source link while the text recommends someone else, or Absent. SeenMeter records which of the three you get for every tracked prompt, along with your rank (the order you appear in the answer), the sources cited, the competitors named instead, and how the answer describes you. AI answers aren't fixed. The same question can get a different answer tomorrow, so one check is only a snapshot. Daily re-runs of the same prompts show which way you're moving, and every run keeps the answer as evidence.
Search Console's Generative AI report helps, but it counts link impressions, not what the answer says about you. The comparison below shows the split.
Named or only cited? The difference matters more than it sounds. Mentions vs. citations explained.

Search Console vs. a tracker
What Search Console shows about AI Overviews — and what it doesn't
Google rolled out a Generative AI report in Search Console to all sites by August 31, 2026 (data appears once a site earns enough AI impressions). Open it. It just answers a different question than a tracker does.
AI feature impressions for your own pages
- Google Search Console
- Yes — by page, country, device and date
- SeenMeter
- No — that data lives in your Search Console
The searches behind those impressions
- Google Search Console
- No query data in the Generative AI report
- SeenMeter
- Every result is tied to a tracked prompt
Whether the answer names your brand
- Google Search Console
- No — it counts links to your site, not brand mentions
- SeenMeter
- Named, Cited only or Absent, per tracked prompt
Where you rank inside the answer
- Google Search Console
- No — every link in an AI Overview shares one position
- SeenMeter
- Your appearance order in the answer text
Competitors named instead of you
- Google Search Console
- No
- SeenMeter
- Yes, prompt by prompt
Sources the answer cites
- Google Search Console
- Only your own pages
- SeenMeter
- Every cited source, yours or not
Clicks from AI features
- Google Search Console
- Not in the Generative AI report — they're counted in the regular Performance report's Web totals
- SeenMeter
- No — SeenMeter records answers, not your traffic
AI Overviews vs. AI Mode
- Google Search Console
- Reported together
- SeenMeter
- AI Overviews only, inside the Gemini engine — AI Mode isn't tracked

Use both: Search Console for your site's AI impressions, a tracker for what the answer actually says. Google also puts this plainly: “No third-party tool has access to our internal ranking or AI systems.” That includes us. SeenMeter records the answers people see — and nothing we track can make Google mention you.
